What is a car-visitor by our defintion? Caravans are pretty modern and many people use them but that's only one aspect of our actual point. These big cars are often disadvantaged and many restricted areas keep them out. Often a caravan is pushed to camping-grounds or at least to highway-lots. Some countries dislike caravans more then others. Therefore it is a good idea to keep yourself informed about restrictions and ways for caravan-usage in the countries you are planning to travel info.

It is only a small group of park-visitors who live a completely free life and stay outside in the weather all the time. They are always in search of nice parking-lots to stay over the night. Sometimes it is hard to carry all necessary things with you (many clothes for change, cold and warm clothes, private catering, ..) but if you take this opportunity you will be rewarded by incredible sights and emotions. Staying near a Rollercoaster during the night below the shadows which it trows in the moonlight - and waking up with an overview-look of your desired park is unforgetable.

Was ist ein Autobesucher nach unserer Defintion? Caravans sind ziemlich modern, und viele Leute benutzen sie, aber das ist nur ein Aspekt unseres eigentlichen Punktes. Diese großen Autos sind oft benachteiligt, und viele beschränkte Gebiete schließen sie aus. Ein Caravn wird oft zu den Campingplätzen umgeleitet oder zumindest zu Autobahnraststätten. Es ist demnach eine gute Idee, sich zu informieren über die Einschränkungen und Wege für Caranvans in den Ländern, die man bereisen möchte.

Es ist nur eine kleine Gruppe von Parkbesuchern, die eine völlig freies Leben führen und bei jedem Wetter draußen bleiben. Sie sind immer auf Suche nach schönen Parkplätzen, um dort zu übernachten. Manchmal ist es schwierig, alle notwendigen Sachen mitzuführen (viele Kleidungsstücke zum Wechseln, kühle und warme Kleidung, private Verpflegung,...) aber wenn man diese Gelegenheit ergreift wird man mit unglaublichen Aussichten und Gefühlen belohnt. Neben einer Achterbahn zu übernachten unter den Schatten, die es im Mondschein wirft - und aufzuwachen mit einem Gesamtblick auf den ersehnten Park ist unvergeßlich.

Here are some tips how to make you car-travel more pleasant:

• Be sure to be in good health and use a car that is long enough. If you are not able to rest comfortably (you should be able to stretch out completely after a long park-day) you will pay your dept to your body later-on.
• Be sure to take everything you may need with you (management-geniuses have a big advantage) and keep important things like ID-cards and money hidden well, but reacheable also during the night. Our checklist in the main-section may provide some useful tips.
• It is not always easy to get parking-lots near some parks
  (e.g. Europapark - removed the free overnight parking-lot and offers an expensive camping-area instead;
  near Gardaland there is almost no free parking spot at all, let alone to stay overnight; ...).
  Be sure to arrive early enough (it is adviseable to reach the park during sun-light) and be prepared to find a changed situation since your last arrival at the park.
• Some parks have a kind heart and offer enough place for an overnight-stay in the car.
  (e.g. Phantasialand opens parking-lot 1 during the night;
  Schtroumpf has a wide open park area which can become a bit creepy in the silence of the night;
  Bobbejaanland has vis a vis of the main-entrance a nice area under trees which is open during the night but closes about an hour before the park opening).
• Sometimes you will have to stay on a highway-lot. Most of the parks are near highways and therefor this is no big problem. Maybe you are lucky and a fuel-station with service area near your resting-place thus providing you with toilets and snackbars.
• Think of something to cover your car-windows. It protects against the daylight in the early morning and - much more important - against curious eyes of people walking by. It must be something to attach from the inside if possible and something what doesn't hang out of the car in order not to Iead the humidity inside if it rains.
• Keep your car-doors closed and locked. Even if you need fresh air, don't open the windows far enough for someone to stick the hand through, rather let a tiny opening in all windows and hope for draft. It's rather better to stay up for a couple of minutes and air the car while awake to be able to sleep then in closed safety. Some countries are safer then others but it is generally a good advise to take no risks.

Hier sind einige Tipps, wie man das Auto-Reisen angenehmer gestaltet:

• Man muß sicherstellen, daß man bei guter Gesundheit ist und ein Auto benutzen, das lang genug ist. Wenn man sich nicht angenehm ausruhen kann (man sollte sich voll ausstrecken können nach einem langen Parktag), dann wird man seinem Körper später die Rechnung zahlen müssen
• Man muß darauf achten, alle notwendigen Sachen mitzunehmen (Management-Genie haben einen klaren Vorteil) und wichtige Sachen wie Ausweis und Geld auch in der Nacht gut versteckt aber erreichbar zu halten. Unsere Checkliste in der Hauptsektion kann dafür sehr hilfreich sein.
• Es ist nicht immer leicht, neben manchen Parks Parkplätze zu finden
  (z.B. hat Europapark den freien Übernachtungsplatz gestrichen und bietet einen teuren Campingplatz stattdessen;
  bei Gardaland gibt es fast keinen freien Parkplatz, geschweige denn einer zum übernachten; ...). Man sollte rechtzeitig ankommen (es ist empfehlenswert, noch bei Tageslicht den Park zu erreichen) und darauf gefasst sein, eine veränderte Situation seit dem letzten Besuch vorzufinden.
• Manche Parks haben ein großes Herz und bieten ausreichend Möglichkeit für eine Übernachtung im Auto.
  (z.B. Phantasialand öffnet den Parkplatz 1 während der Nacht;
  Schtroumpf hat ein offenes großes Parkplatz-Areal, das ein wenig schauderhaft wirkt in der Stille der Nacht;
  Bobbejaanland hat vis-a-vis vom Haupteinang ein nettes Areal unter Bäumen, das in der Nacht offen ist aber eine Stunde vor Parkbeginn geschlossen wird).
• Manchmal muß man auf Autobahnparkpätzen übernachten. Die meisten Parks sind in der Nähe von Autobahnen also stellt das kein besonderes Problem dar. Vielleicht hat man ja Glück und findet eine Tankstelle mit Raststätte in der Nähe und wird so auch mit Toiletten und einer Imbißstube versorgt
• Man sollte sich etwas ausdenken, um die Fenster zu verhängen. Es schützt gegen das Tageslicht am frühen Morgen und - was noch viel wichtiger ist - vor neugierigen Blicken der Spaziergänger. Es muß etwas sein, was man möglichst von innen befestigt und das nicht aus dem Auto heraushängt, um bei Regen die Feuchtigkeit nicht in den Wagen zu leiten.
• Man sollte die Türen verschlossen halten. Wen man frische Luft braucht, dann auf gar keinen Fall die Fenster soweit öffnen, daß jemand die Hand durchstecken kann, lieber bei allen Fenster nur einen kleinen Spalt aufmachen und auf Durchzug hoffen. Sicherer ist es, sich ein paar Minuten aufsetzen und im wachen Zustand gut durchlüften, um dann wieder in geschlossener Sicherheit schlafen zu können.
